Ryan has been the catalyst that has enabled The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency to ascend to one of the most dynamic independent insurance agencies in the Midwest. Since his arrival in 2012, the agency has expanded from a regional agency with one location into an expanding national agency with five locations and agents in a multitude of states that writes insurance in 48 states.

Ryan Graduated Butler University with a B.S. in International Business Management and started his career in the financial services industry in 2001. Ryan Joined the United States Army after 9/11 and has since deployed around the world as a member of the Special Forces “Green Berets” with two tours in Afghanistan. Ryan joined Smith Sawyer Smith in 2012 as Principal and earned his Masters in Management from the American College in 2014. His leadership philosophy of “leading from the front” coupled with his tenacious competitive edge has helped mold Smith Sawyer Smith’s culture into what is today.

Ryan is married to his wife Lisa and they four wonderful, but very different, children. If Ryan is not in the office or on military duty, you will most likely find him at one of the kids’ various sports events.

Mart Smith

Professional: Mart began his insurance career in 1973 when he joined the family business. He started immediately in the sales and marketing department but was also asked to learn and run the bookkeeping department. His father also thought that all good insurance agents should know and understand the claims process so Mart was also heavily engaged in handling claims. Mart has also spent years in service and support of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana serving on the State Board of Directors and also serving as Chairman of several committees.

Personal: Mart’s father was also a big proponent of giving back to the community and Mart has continued that belief. Mart served on the Rochester School Board for 20 years, is a Past President of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and has served two terms as President of the Rochester Kiwanis Club. Today, Mart is serving his 12th year on the Rochester City Council, is the Vice President of the Fulton County Council on Aging and is the President of the Fulton County Promise Indiana (an organization that helps all county students create and build a 529 account to help make secondary education a reality). When not working or serving his community Mart spends as many hours as possible with his two children and seven grandchildren doing whatever they think is important.

Ron Smith, CPCU

Professional: Ron served for many years as the Principal of The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency. While presiding, he also served as president of both the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI) and Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) organizations. In his time as the Agency Principal, he had a helping hand in taking the agency to new heights within the local community as well as on a national scale. Ron is still a friendly face around the office where he spends his time assisting the next generation of agency influencers.

Personal: Ron is a graduate of Indiana University. He is married to long-time partner, Maurine Smith and they share one son together, Craig. Craig and his wife, Molly, have blessed Ron with four grandchildren to keep him on his toes. Ron enjoys spending time with his beautiful family and on the golf links.

Rob Sawyer

Professional: Rob graduated with honors from Texas Christian University. With a BBA degree, he was hired by Pepsi and quickly promoted to Marketing Manager in the Dallas area. An opportunity arose in 1987 for him to join the family business here at Smith, Sawyer, & Smith. Serving in many capacities at the agency through the years, he is now a full time producer as well as owner. Rob has represented Smith, Sawyer, & Smith within the Independent Insurance Association serving as local chairman and Junior Golf Classic director. He also served on the Young Agents and Legislative committees for the Indiana Big "I" as well as Agents Advisory Council for Liberty Mutual.

Staying active in the community has always been important to Rob as past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club. He served on the Boards of United Way and the American Cancer Society. Rob was a participant of the initial Fulton County Leadership Academy and proud of the role it has played in the Rochester community through the years.

Personal: Any family activity is enjoyable to Rob, whether that was coaching Little League or attending volleyball tournaments in the past to current extended family trips to sporting events or the beach. Both kids are older now and pursuing professions in the medical field. Rob and wife, Beth, enjoy bike rides, church functions, and cookouts with friends. Rob comes from a large family of golfers, so please contact him and give him a reason to tee it up.

Megan Semonis

Professional: Megan graduated from Purdue University in 2009 with a degree in Financial Counseling & Planning. She began her career in the financial services industry with a national financial planning firm, but found her true calling to risk management when she joined The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency in 2012.

Megan has served the agency in a variety of roles over the years, creating a well-rounded depth of knowledge for her current agency operations role, in which she manages staff onboarding, standard operating procedures, agency accounting, payroll, and strategic planning.

Personal: Megan and her family live in Bourbon, Indiana, where they are actively involved in the United Pentecostal Church. Megan is a worship leader on the music team and teaches a Sunday School Class for Junior High Teens. In their spare time, Megan and her family enjoy spending time together outdoors, often fishing, laughing around a bonfire, or driving tractors on their hobby farm.

Trevor (TJ) Smith

Sharon Morris

Professional: Sharon recently retired after 26 years as Lead Business Sales at a local communications company in Rochester. Working with The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency as a client gave Sharon the insight into the professionalism of the staff and solid business practices of one of Rochester’s leading employers. Upon her retirement, she was given the opportunity to consider a part time position at Smith Sawyer Smith. Sharon accepted the role and is happy to be on staff learning all of the new opportunities offered in her position.

Personal: Lisa resides in Rochester, Indiana with her husband and two daughters. Lisa’s husband works on the family dairy farm that has been family-operated for over 100 years. Her two daughters are a great help in the family garden that is planted every year.

She brings a diverse professional background, having previously worked as a Preschool Teacher, School-Based Case Manager, and Primary Care Scribe for Dr. Frieden at Midwest Eye Consultants. In March of 2022, Hope joined Smith Sawyer Smith Agency as a Commercial Lines Service Agent. She later transitioned to the Claims Department, where she has served as the Agency Claims Manager since May of 2022.

Personal: Outside of work, Hope is exploring her newest adventure as a mother to two little girls, Sutton and Whitley! They are enjoying every minute of their little family! They have five children between the two of them and four beautiful grandchildren – Madelynn, age 8; Kylo, age 4, Callie, age 4, and Theo 18 months with another on the way. Personal: Missy and her husband, Steve, reside in Twelve Mile, Indiana. They are proud parents to four children: their son Trey (wife, Megan) and three daughters—Brianna (husband, Braxton), Kaylyn, and Stevanna. Personal: Louise emigrated from England to Peru back in September 2021 as she has dual citizenship in the UK/US. She quickly changed roles, filling the need for a personal lines service representative. Stacy later became the director of the farm and agribusiness department, which allowed her to return to her roots, as the sixth generation in her family to have a career in an ag-related field. In late 2018, with the acquisition of a Chicago based agency, Stacy took the lead as the account executive for the commercial business. In an effort to differentiate herself from her competitors, while working full-time, Addie began law school in 2010 knowing that an insurance professional, that is also an attorney, would set her apart and bring added value to her clients.
